Application Engineer

APPLICATION ENGINEER

Predictronics currently has a position available for an Application Engineer. The individual hired into this position will primarily focus on utilizing Predictronics’ end-to-end predictive analytics and Industrial AI software platform, PDX, to architect, configure and deploy solutions for Predictronics’ industrial and manufacturing customers.

Specific tasks include working with customers to understand their application, needs, data availability and data quality, among other relevant information; working with the Predictronics consulting and the product teams to deploy solutions in a reliable and timely manner; and providing technical customer support and instruction for those solutions. It would also be expected that the individual would provide testing, code reviews, feedback and input on the PDX platform, and suggest additional functionalities, as well as architecture and user interface improvements.

Additional general responsibilities include:

  • Preparing reports, presentations, documentation, etc.
  • Documenting work in an organized and broadly understandable manner
  • Keeping up-to-date with latest technology trends
  • Continuously improving individual capabilities
  • The ideal candidate for this position should have engineering, data science, IT, and/or software development and deployment. Experience in designing, configuring, deploying, and supporting applications in a professional and/or industrial setting is a plus.

This position reports to the current Chief Technical Officer with additional input and oversight from the current Chief Executive Officer.

Candidate Requirements

  • BS in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or other related fields. Candidates with a BS should also have at least 5 year of professional experience. Experience working in industrial or manufacturing applications is a plus.
  • MS in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or other related fields. Candidates with a MS should also preferably have at least 1 year of professional experience. Experience working in industrial or manufacturing applications is a plus.
  • Experience in Signal Processing, Statistics, Data Analysis and broad engineering applications.
  • Experience working with industry.
  • Intermediate knowledge in full stack development, with proficiency in Python and/or Javascript.
  • Visualization, data analysis, feature engineering and data science expertise within generally used statistical programming environments like Python, R or Matlab.
  • Previous experience in working with cross functional teams, preferably in Pre-Sales/Post Sales roles.


Additional Beneficial Qualifications

  • Previous experience in building reliable and scalable data pipelines using Rest APIs/ODBC connectors.
  • Experience with cloud technologies like AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker.
  • Familiarity with edge devices like Sensors, Analog to Digital convertors, Industrial PCs etc.
  • Basic knowledge of factory floor automation devices like PLCs, protocols like OPCUA/MTConnect, and software packages like PTC Kepware.
